I am replacing the core in my radiator... however ive come to a stop trying to remove the cage from around the core. This X-brace seems to be held in place by some unknown fasteners... Need to remove this x-brace somehow. Are these rivets crimped on and need cutting off? Looks like a stud is going through but inserted in the back side then this cap on top. Anyone ever encounter this? Is there a trick before I slice it apart? Thanks.
How to remove radiator core from cage?? 2001 T800

Huck bolts, cut them off
OLDSKOOLERnWV, tscottme, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this. -
I cut them off. They are actually slotted on the back and holes big enough for it to go through on the frame, so somehow you position them and they would pop out. No way in hell would anyone know unless they did it before. Bolts will work to replace them.

The holes in the frame where the x-brace goes are slotted and they dont seem to do much. This core i got is thicker so it doesnt leave much room for anything, I think i'll just leave those braces off. The frame itself is super heavy duty enough.
Anyone about to do a core job... man its a ton of work. Borderline worth the extra 600. to get a complete one. I think i have less time into a clutch job than this.
