I have tried that with a hammer I carry. Honestly I could never tell the difference between ten pounds of pressure, it all sounds the same to me.

The tires on all the company trailers have the caps that air can flow through so no need to remove them.

Cam Roberts and Lepton1 Thank this.

Nobody can. That's why we carry and USE tire pressure guages

I won't insult you. I don't think it would do any good.
Running around with low tires is hard on the tires and hard on the pocket book. Tires are one of our biggest expenses. We try to take care of them.
Every one of our trucks has a good tire guage in it. Every truck has an airhose with the proper fittings to air up tires. Whenever a truck or trailer goes through the shop, part of the pm is a tire check.

And believe me, we're neither nickle and dimers or rookies. Wherever it is you're working, you better stay there. You wouldn't last long at most outfits.

TIMPTE 527 and Cam Roberts Thank this.

That is not a bad idea about checking the accuracy of the gauge. I cannot calibrate the thing but can always adjust by whatever it may be off.

I've had those and Centerfires on trucks and after a while they can be less accurate. Good thing though is you can gauge both tires at the same time.

Thought about this post today while checking tire pressure on my semi had to replace one of my valve stem valves.
I can show you how to do that....

Yeah, I tried relying on my sense of tone and even my sense of vibration (slapping my tires with the palm of my hand and feeling for the vibration). After a few sessions of that, THEN comparing against my tire gauge, I realized I'm not as good as I thought I was. I gauge my tires at least every other day.

I’ve continuously told people this for years. But it was in reference to buying a tool to adjust their headlights.

***holes are still driving a truck
