So to answer your question about unfair trade practices... there are none! You made a bad business decision by partnering up with this outfit, and it has cost you. That is the lesson. Park their truck, find your own way home and go work for a reputable company under a w-2 employment model.

Why not name the company? What amazing sales pitch did they give you to even take the job? Let me guess, "Be your own boss"

The only thing you can do is simply let other drivers know about your experience. There are tons of terrible companies however there are also good ones as well. Comments on Google can help new drivers apply for jobs and give them a indication of the culture of that trucking business. But also note that 90% of these bad companies also pay for post fake skewed comments hyping their company up. A company I once leased to did me Wrong but I made that bad choice and simply moved on to better. That's all you can really do.
