How to report truck abandonment by driver to DAC report ?

I definitely agree to your response. I just abandoned a truck at the truck stop. I’ve been with this company for 3yrs. I was gonna quit earlier last year but they promised me better miles. Promise was broken immediately. Got to the point I was going in my savings for my household. And yes I am a great employee wherever I work. I had issues on their end every other day along with reduction of miles. Not worth it. I couldn’t take it anymore. So not fair to the good drivers trying to make a living for themselves/their families when a company can ruin their DAC fr abandonment.

 

I understand why you quit , but why didnt you bring the truck back to them?
A lot of peoples miles are down this year, no reason to abandon a truck

 

These posts are utterly ridiculous blaming the company for truck abandonment. Ever think there are just terrible drivers/people? Clearly people who posted here are clueless and never ran a trucking company.

Bottom line is even if the company is terrible, the absolute worst, a decent driver or human being would just take the truck to the terminal and quit.

He’s not wrong. I take it you don’t recruit and employ drivers, because if you did, you would be nodding your head in agreement. I think I’ve given up on having company drivers myself unless someone awesome comes along.

A former member here says “if only I could clone myself” and I tell him if you did, he’d have his own trucking company and wouldn’t work for you.

 

I bet the carrier hires drivers from all over. I only hire drivers that live locally because the odds of abandonment 1,000 miles away are far, far less.

 

Many years ago, I abandoned a truck. I had given 2 weeks notice. 3 weeks later, finally headed home when I get a message to swap loads with another driver. I was in Texas, lived in California, new load was headed to NYC. messaged dispatcher where keys were stashed, spent $300 on a cab to get where a truck for my new employer could pick me up and never looked back.

 

That right there is dirty pool. I have heard this game being played with drivers more than once.
We should have a thread that lays out a positive course of action when dispatchers do this.

 

Fuel up and keep on heading home.

 

seems pretty simple when you put it that way.
Why not just drive straight to yard once youre empty even its 2000 miles away?
