I received my Class A license in 2013. I worked for USA truck for 3 weeks and quit over a dispute with my trainer. I made a mistake. I am 43 and I have always worked in restaurants as a server and assistant manager. I would appreciate the opportunity to become a truck driver .I don't want to pay for the school again. I am asking for input on my options to return to truck driving. Thank You

call companies that offer free refresher training.

but let me ask you this, you were unhappy with the job then, what makes you think it'll be better the second time around?

First question you need to know the answer to is that if your CDL is expired? They vary by state. If it's expired you'll have to go through another training program to get a new CDL. If it's not, then your medical is definitely expired which means you have to get that renewed before applying to any companies. If your CDL is good and you renew your medical, then you will have to go through a refresher course. Those vary in length depending on company. And I agree with the above poster. If you weren't willingto put up with the BS of a starter company then, what has changed to make you believe you could now? Because believe me, there is ALOT of BS you will put up with in your first year driving. A lot of guys can't make the cut. Which is why there is such a high turnover rate in this industry. But once that first year is over, it either gets in your blood and you stick with it or it leaves a bad taste in your mouth and you quit. If you quit after 3 weeks at USA truck, you need to think really hard about weather you can manage to shovel the crap you'll be given for a full 12 months. And it is a huge load of crap.

I'm sure he is smart enough not to make the same mistake twice and he will probably find a better company to work for.

It's tough man. I did my time in the Air Force as a Security Forces specialist (3PO31 VAFB Space Command). Then I worked for the Detroit Police Department. Later, as a deputy Sheriff. None of that compares to the amount of crap I've had to deal with in my first year trucking. Second year is gravy because I know how to operate the equipment and how to get the most bang for my buck so to speak as far as loads are concerned. I'm a company driver but know when I need to push and when I can relax. It's a big transition from a regular life into a truckers life. A lot bigger then most people think. Bigger then I thought. But I pushed through. And now am well on my way to getting a better job making $70K a year. Was it worth it? You bet your bippy. I'm making twice as much as I ever made as a police officer and will be making more then that in another few months. Being away from home sucks. But you'll come back after a year or two and look back at this time as an experience well worth having. For as I have stated in previous posts, working OTR perfects your craft. I am now 100% fully confident in my own abilities to operate this machine safely. And there isn't a company in the country that wouldn't value my emperor nice and pay me for it. Best part about this career? You never have to worry about not having a job. If you have a hard time finding work in this field, you better dry out your ammo and dig that bunker because the crap has just hit the fan n

If you paid for a cdl thru a school they should give free refresher course on weekends. Call the school first and see what they say.
