Advice on how to tackle your fuel tanks and stacks from road salt turning them to crap?

Any preventative measures that can be taken?
I've heard waxing your fuel tanks so there's a protective layer. Any success with this?

Simple solutions please because you know, cheap freight

Main thing is to wash the salt off asap. Waxed and polished helps. Acid at Blue Beacon removes it. Make them cover the wheels and tanks. If any acid gets on the aluminum, make them polish it back to a shine. Better yet, don’t let them use acid, have them brush wash it. Keeping the wax on the paint and the polish on the aluminum. No need to cover aluminum.

Cooking spray like Pam. Or keep it all heavily waxed but it's not as easy to maintain.

When you run Northern states all the time is difficult to keep to washed off.
Then when it warms up whole day is being splashed with salty water going down the road.

Not a quick fix, but next time you polish your aluminum, wipe it down with lacquer thinner and clear coat it with Alumaclear. The stuff isn't terrible expensive, and keeps it shiny until it wears off in like 5 years. Then lacquer thinner it off, polish, and reapply. I did this truck when it was new in 2020 and it worked well. It's time to redo the fuel tank though. I spilled fuel treatment on it not long after I did the Alumaclear and it ate through the clear coat.

For the stainless I have no idea other than clean and polish it regularly. Screenshot_20241231-065255.png

Chrome the wheels and paint the tanks. Aluminum looks nice, but a PITA to keep nice. With chrome or paint,, a quick wipe, voila!
