How to secure paper rolls to satisfy DOT?

    I would think loading paper on a flatbed would be a problem, being open to the elements and all.

    Back around 1997, I'd get a load of paper rolls out of Mansfield, La.going up to Chicagoland. Rolls were around 6 feet high standing on end and probably at least that in diameter. Back then they didn't use any kind of mats, just loaded them on the wood floor. I would put a few etrack straps on them and roll. Newer driver then and I'd ask the other drivers there and they did the same thing.
    Securement back then was mainly to prevent damage to the freight. Never though about what could happen if I had to panic stop.
