I am in the process of having my own authority hauling cement and fly ash. Driving in Texas only. And i need some inputs or ideas from OO's or expertise how to set the right price per load. I know that a lots of trucking Companies hide the confirmation load and they usually pay the OO's different amount per ton.
Exactly, thats what I am talking about. I worked in 2 different trucking Companies. As owner operator One pay 10.50 per ton, sometimes even less Around 30 miles range. The other one 14.75 per ton. Same distances. And OO's said that those rates were manipulated by the trucking Companies, they were fix. so they always hiding the real rate, that they got set on the confirmation load.
Back when I hauled dry bulk the plants had set rates. So just call the distribution people at every plant you're interested in hauling out of and find out what their rates are. While you're at it you might want to find out what their carrier requirements are, if you haven't done so already.
Very good. I went to a couple of concrete mix plants and they ask me for my rates, and hopefully we can have a deal. And I told them my rates Are open to negociate...
