He didn't say to start in 1st there tenderfoot. he did say not to start in 3rd which is correct. Too many think of a truck like a car or pickup. You start in a gear where you can get going without any fuel peddle applied. Clutch has to be fully engaged before you apply throttle. You know nothing as you are a wanna be and not a driver. Keep taking off in 3rd and you'll be smelling that clutch going out before long. Even the auto shifts start out in 2nd unless overridden by some moron.
