Unless you have ever spent time in a truck stop in Texas with no ac and all the others around you are idling away with the engines running putting out heat you cant say things like that puppet. It gets unbearbly hot in them trucks during the day if you aint got ac. It's like being in an oven. Idle the truck and save your life

Been there and done that. I speak from experience.....I try not to use much air conditioning in general in the house either so I am probably more used to getting warm.

Yep-and the life expectancy was about 35 yrs less than today and a/c & heating is one of the main reasons it is ls much longer now. I grew up w/ no a/c. When I was about 9 my parents bought a window unit for their room. Can still remember them waking up on Sun morning w/ all of us in there. No a/c in school unless you went to nurse of principal. Now days there is no reason for a company to expect any driver to not have air or heat any time they want. You want to suffer go ahead. Been there. Done that. Not stupid any more. You might like Iraq. They sleep on their roofs to stay cool over there.

35 years less? Really? Why is it all my grandparents lived well into their 80's yet they had no A/C the first 40-50 years of their lives. Are you saying that if they had A/C they would of lived to 115-125? While I agree that in todays world no driver should have to live and work without A/C, please don't distort the truth because it only destroys whatever little credit drivers have.

There's a big difference between MO and TX in the summer. *shrugs* Heck it's hotter out here in AZ than in TX but it's easier to deal with the heat because of the lack of humidity.

    So does being a POW.

Folks, we are talking about making a living here! If you want to "toughen up" go visit a hospital where children are dying. Try The Ronald McDonald House or the Shriners Hospital for starters.

If you want to bake in your truck sleeping in Phoenix Arizona in the middle of summer, knock yourself out. I did my sweating through the mattress back in the 70's.

If I can't idle the truck, I will do Idle Air. If I can't afford Idle Air, then I am paying to drive. If I am paying to drive a truck, then trucking is no longer worth doing. And if trucking is no longer worth doing then I guess someone was willing to follow every edict that comes down from those who sleep in homes with central air. :biggrin_25514:

Better do your history. Before refrigeration and ac and heating were common place life expectancy was much shorter. Willis Carrier invented large scale a/c. 1st it was used mainly in businesses and movies. One of the major reason so many people used to go to movies after the 1920s. In the 50s it started being used in homes more other than the rich. Didn't say anything about their not being any geezers like your GPs. There are exceptions to all rules. How many people you think would consider relocating to TX,AZ, LA, other Southern states if they had to be miserable like those in the past. Your closed mind and lack of knowledge of the a/c industry is all that is giving us a bad rap. How long you think many medicines and vaccines would last if not kept cold? And the list goes on and on and one.
