Evening all. We are adding my olde water hauling truck to the fleet. It has a pto that runs a driveshaft to the now removed vacumn pump. I am trying to figure out how to size spec a pump to run on that pto to run the 8 car trailer we just bought. The 10 car has both an electric and PTO but not driveshaft style. The 6 car is battery operated on the trailer. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
how to spec a pto and pump

Call the trailer manufacturer, they'll give you specs for gpm and psi. Look up the specs for your pto so you know what rpm the shaft will run, and you'll know which pump you need to order.

I will, Thanks. Doesnt the GPM depend more on the tank volume? I have a 30 gallon tank I ran when hauling crude. it fits right where the vacumn pump went. I was hoping to use that.

No gpm doesn't depend on tank size......if you return the oil fast enough you could still have a high gpm pump rate with a small tank.

30 gals should take care of it. I don't think the factory tanks are even that large on the self-contained trailers.
PSI = load capacity
GPM = speed
Plus, if your GPM is too slow, the cylinders have a greater tendency to want to work slightly out of phase.
