So be the “gray man” out on the road? Move about unnoticed. Draw no attention.

This is funny, there is no way to stand out as a driver in this industry.

See drivers are a commodity. Drivers are not part of a profession where they are compete for jobs or recognized as skill trade people where there is a clear competition to win a slot for work.

Drivers in the industry are saturated which is sad. We should have a real shortage, not a surplus.

Most companies don't care about what you do to prove your worth, they just view you as a number in a seat, if you can't do a job then they find someone to do the same job.

I don't want to be the negitive Nancy on this forum but reality is until most of the drivers are willing to do more than just collect a paycheck and treat it as a job, it won't change. Drivers need to fight for skill trade recognition, fight for harder licensing (it is a real joke) to put a stop to the revolving door and start treating this as a profession, drivers will continue to be a commodity and everyone is just that ... a driver.

I work for a 100 driver company and I stand out by getting #### done. It helps when everybody in the office knows your name.

But do you make more money because of it, does it make you more marketable when you need another employer?

Work ethic is endlessly useful. I'm not talking about bending rules, or wearing yourself out. Just be competent at what you choose to do and you stick out from the current crop.

Where I work the company is loosing
more than are coming in .. if appears
    the balance has changed

They are approaching a crisis point

    .54 cpm ( HUB ) doesn’t seem to have
    any effect on those exiting

    Something isn’t right anymore in
    this business

This line of work has become so
undesirable that no one wants to
be a part of it anymore

    xahmdm and DTP Thank this.

Geesh.... Don’t be so happy and positive!
    People will start talking.
BTW: You’d definitely stand out wearing an oversized codpiece.
