I always roll up my tarp either on the load itself or bunch it up, get the freight off then roll it out on the trailer and roll it up. Rarely gets dirty enough that it needs a wash.

This way I don't have to lift it up. Just lower it down into the side box. And it stays clean.

i find that if i wear coveralls it keeps my clothes clean from dirt, but i sweat them nasty from the inside. so i take my shirt and trousers off first, then put on the coveralls. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

but the real secret to staying clean is to use baby wipes in bulk. big handfuls of them. nothing like showing up at a steel mill smelling like a new-washed baby's bottom.

I appreciate the replies as I have been wondering about this myself. Very rarely do I have to think about throwing tarps at my job. However, when I do haul equipment, I get dirty and I have to change.

Ya ought to try man wipes!

Just wet a paper towel, maybe rub a bar of soap across it once or twice, then wipe off like a man.

Follow up with one without soap for a rinse.

Man wipes are a lot cheaper than baby wipes.

Even Dumpster Baby uses man wipes!

OMG, WTF, I love getting dirty when I tarp, if I could I'd go plum ugly. Really its all about handling n properly storing your tarps also how you roll or fold them will help. Cover it up bungee it down toss your strap n haul that load.

I agree, hand tarps are like cave man rock tools. They belong in a museum. Why would anyone want to work so hard for the same pay?

The easiest way to stay clean is tell them you're going to tarp at the truckstop.

    Are you saying to lie?
Otherwise tarping at the truckstop would not be any cleaner.
I think I'd rather get little dirty than lie about it.
