Look in any truck magazine or paper..if a company is looking for people..they will just advertise for a month or two..and find people..BUT if they are there month after month..wonder why? Its not that they are growing leaps and bounds...there is a reason. Why they have to..that should start to throw up some kind of a red flag to you.
how to tell a good company from a bad one in just a few minutes..

Walmart is the premier driving job and advertises in the magazines, papers and radio. This is not how you tell a good company from a bad one.
atlasshruggery, truckon, Dinomite and 4 others Thank this. -
Very seldom do you ever see Walmart advertise in the trucking periodicals...
-
The Trucker has a Walmart advertisement every month. They also advertise on SiriusXM on select channels. They also do advertise in the other magazines as well. So do quite a few of the better companies.MONT74 Thanks this.

sorry just pulled up the trucker..no add there this time..Walmart doesn't have that many trucks anymore as CREngland and out side companies are pulling Walmart trailer
-
It doesn't matter. Walmart is one example. Companies, even the best, have to look for drivers somehow. The way that gets done is through advertising.browndawg Thanks this.

If a company is good..they will have a very small turn over rate and not need to look day in and day out for drivers. Just like the company that I work for.they don't advertise and don't have to look for drivers as the drivers want to work there by word of mouth.poppapump1332, Tonythetruckerdude, 201 and 1 other person Thank this.

FWIW, I'm with PT on this one....A good carrier doesn't have to advertise, as they'll usually have list of drivers just waiting to jump at the chance to hire on, a good carrier (as well as bad) will already be well known among drivers....Of course, there are exceptions, like a large expansion, or opening a new terminal in another area, etc....IMHO, a carrier that's always advertising for drivers is usually one to be wary of, be sure to do your homework....
Years ago, some of the best carriers to drive for were companies that made and hauled their own products.. They usually had the best pay, bennies, and treatment by far...I was lucky enough to drive for two such carriers back in the day, but alas, they both closed their doors...Many moons ago, I remember listening to this little guy with big ears from Texas that was running for president....He kept saying that with this up and coming NAFTA thing that y'all gonna hear this big sucking sound happen.....Yup, I believe he was right after all....barnmonkey and CaliforniaJellyroll Thank this. -
A good way to see how a company is..pull their CSA score.a low score company has something going for them..a high score..you might be pulled in to be inspected all day long..
Moving Forward and Chewbongka Thank this. -
That's a good one. I'll agree with you all day long on that.Moving Forward Thanks this.
