Same here. A listing on CraigsList popped up for a good outfit so called HR in Indy, asked if they were interested in a part-timer in Bloomington. She gave me the manager # in Bloomington to call.
Answer: "YES!!!!"
Cool!! So I knew I was hired if I met their qualifications.

That is another good point. A great company to work for has an "open door" policy...walk in and talk to the head honchos any time, without having to be buzzed in or escorted through the building. A great company also won't be afraid to give out the CEO and every other company executive's (and your dispatcher's) work, cell, and home phone numbers.Hammer166 Thanks this.

Nobody has a closed door, not even Juan Pablo. The only time the doors are closed is if they are in a meeting or something.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

That's the same with my boss. Only time his door is closed is a meeting or very important phone call.
Other than that I can go straight to him with a problem. We have night dispatch but it's out of another terminal.
most of the guys here have been here for 5 or 10 plus years. I'm the youngest driver in the companyPackRatTDI Thanks this. -
She is though. She pulled me off a load due to an extended wait to load (24hrs plus) and told the broker too bad so sad.Hammer166 Thanks this.

ding , ding , we have a winner here ^^^^^^^^ nailed - it ^^^^^^^^^^^ most of the really good places never advertize , they let their drivers do their recruiting. Many are non-union jobs , but pay very well , most times just below union scale , with great benefits and retirement vehicles to keep unions at bay. I know this for a fact...I had one of those jobs for 30 + years with GSF.......Great post ^^^^^^^^rocknroll81 and 201 Thank this.

we only have 10 company trucks and few O/O
but we still manage to fire a few a year
I thought my boss was crankier then me
but some of these guys make me sad for humanity
One Thursday night another driver and I loaded 20 miles apart in WI
Saturday I started running from Laramie
he was still in Council Bluffs
he got a permanent vacation around Christmas -
E LOGS are for losers who need to be told where and when to stop for the night...A good driver can make that decision on his own.
poppapump1332 Thanks this. -
Lol. I drove without and with. And I don't need it to tell me anything. I'd rather have the e-log.
