Once a year we replace em. They're cheap and easy to replace. I notice a difference with new shocks

Diesel Dave and tommymonza Thank this.

I just buy Gabriel SLX shocks for trk and trl and change yearly along with cab shocks. Also don’t forget anti seize on bolts. Rotate drives. Every 100k. Trl as well cross then back to back
Generally get 400+k out of drives
Over 200k out of steers Centramatics on all 5 axles and run Michelin steers on trl. I use a thermal camera but find shocks only last about 150k

Yea anywhere from 80-120k is about it for regular oem shocks. Too cheap and easy to replace not to do it yearly

I gotta tell ya those 680s ride rough up front. I was issued one with 225,000 on it as my first truck. Being a newbie I was elated .

That thing steered and rode like Krap even after convincing the shop to put new shocks,Michelin steers and alinement .

A month later I got issued a Western Star 4900 SB , night and day how they steered and rode empty.

I drive ours bobtail for service, and there is a big difference between the one I drive, which is the highest mileage in our small fleet, and the ones with 300k less miles. Mine beats me up pretty much on the roughly 80 mile ride.

I'll probably get a different truck before they replace them for me as promised.
