Wait till you have to "split weigh" something and they don't know how to split weigh it, also, if you ever split weigh something, make sure it's legal in that state and that your customer will accept a "split weigh" as part of a BOL as a valid weight.

Our trucks all have a suspension air gauge in the dash, some drivers know how to read it, others don't, they are fairly accurate, but only if you know what you're looking at. They are also different depending on the truck on and suspension.

And they don't want to teach drivers how to figure out how calculate: psi to lbs

What does "split weight something" mean? Is split weight something distinct from having to weigh the individual axles on a scale that only gives you the gross weight?

The dash gauge in my Star is all but worthless (too coarse) but the actually digital pressure out of DataStar is dead on. Not quite half the pressure is the weight in 1,000 lbs. 68 psi is just below 34,000.

I've never seen a suspension air gauge in the dash of any truck I've ever driven.

So if your pressure is 69 psi, would you drive axles be overweight?

scale empty, divide weight by psi on guage, 1 psi =xxx lbs

you can have a factory guage on the dash or you can mount just a water filled guage on a bulkhead fitting pretty much anywhere, my steer weight never changes whether I’m empty or have 40 ton In 2BA6A64D-9595-477C-B805-A82528FA8B2D.jpeg

    Siinman Thanks this.
