Mine is fairly accurate 533.33 pounds per psi. 46k airliner suspension
-
I’m assuming the tractor air gauge is “for demonstration purposes only”. Otherwise at 90 psi, you are seriously over on your drives….
Also, not to get too technical, but the better description would be “liquid filled” when referring to the gauges instead of water filled.
I know, I know, picky picky picky…..IH Truck Guy, Siinman, Hammer166 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Again, most companies don't want to mess with teaching people who can barely fog a mirror something difficult.Kyle G. Thanks this.

Blame it on the desk jockey that spec'd the truck. Years back we never did, then for whatever reason my boss decided to spec them, now all our trucks come with it.Siinman Thanks this.

Everyone of them is different, the reading on my Kenworth for 36K is different from the reading on our Macks for 36KHammer166 Thanks this.

Some places will have short length scales, so they will weight the tractor axles and get the weight of the front of the truck, then have you pull forward and weigh the trailer axles. It's not an accurate reading and in some states illegal, you're better off weighing each axle(s) individually or doing full length. Years back, because of someone misreading and miscalculating a split weigh, instead of 80,000 lbs, I was 88,000 lbs, made it 160 miles before I hit a port and weighed, oops.rockeee Thanks this.

Why would a short scale weight be illegal in any state?
-
Your truck is 70; long, if I weigh only your tractor, then weigh only your trailer and don't know what I'm reading, or how to read it, I may tell you your underweight and need to take on more (as what happened to me), or I may tell you you're overweight and need to take some off, now your under weight, if the customer is expecting 44,000 lbs of lettuce, and you show up with 41,000 lbs of lettuce because I don't know what I'm reading, do you suppose they will be happy? I have grain customers in several states with large signs "SPLIT WEIGHTS ARE ILLEGAL AND UNACCEPTABLE"
-
I get what your saying but...because someone does not know how to scale a load or does not know how to interpret the numbers or whatever a "customer" wants, does not make it illegal.
Jubal Early Times Thanks this.
