Get back on your meds and start trying to eat better!!!! I know it is a big pain to have to go to the bathroom a lot but the alternative is stroking out or a heart attack. Personally I would take the having to pee a lot. Anyway try to get your numbers under 140/90. Anything above that and you will have trouble passing your physical.
How tough is the physical?

Yep 140/90 is the goal.
The better half has been preaching to me about my BP and diet, now she gets to say "I told you so!"
Thanks for the replies. -
absolutely no sugar or cafine the day you take your physical. Mine is right on the fence and I usually don't pass the first time. they let me lay down and close my eyes for about 10 minutes then come back and check it. It's usually down like 125/85 then. Last time I went I didn't know they would send me that day and I had just put down a pot of coffee. I didn't think I would ever get it down. it took about 30 minutes laying in the dark meditating to get it down (yes it works)

Coffee is my biggest enemy it seems, besides not wanting to take the meds.
My blood type is "Maxwell House." -
ladytrucker is right the meds were perscribed to you for a reason. If you're unsure of the reasons talk to yoru regular doc and find out why. Then while there at yoru doc office see if they coudl maybe giv eyou a referral to a dietician and then once talking to the dietician tell them more of yoru concerns and if they're worth their degree they will take the time to explain the importance of eating healthy and reducing your BP. have you tried some light or minimal cardio excersing? meraning going for ashort walk and eventually working up to longer and longer walks? or even walking around a wal-mart (every isle) should amount to around 2 miles or so. Doesn't sound right but it is. I had a minor issue with my BP and talked to a dietician at the VA hospital near me and a week later i took my exam for my FED MED CARD and then the pre-employment physical for the company i chose and passed w/ flying colors.

My father was a truck driver also for over 20 years and had high bp--yes he had meds and was sposed to be on a "diet" too--but guess what--he didnt take his either. I dunno how he managed to pass all his dot physicals! -

I too had the same concerns about quitting my job before I go to get my CDL. What I did was use my current insurance coverage to pay for a complete physical and I passed with flying colors. I told the doc what I was doing and he went out and got the paperwork for the medical card and issued it to me on the spot. So before you quit your current job go have a physical done to be sure you will meet all criteria. It would really suck to get your CDL only to find out you cant pass the medical exam...as the saying goes, up the creek...
So if you currently have medical insurance go have a physical done to be sure everything is ok before you quit your current job. Better to find out now anyway and then you wont have to worry about it. The only thing that may be of concern is you may have to get the rubber glove twice if the trucking company that hires you does not accept your medical card (I've read some companies want their doctor, or one they have on their list, to do the physical to avoid fraudulent doctors issuing cards to people who don't actually qualify).
Cheers and good luck! -
Before long, the doctors will need to be DOT certified and the physical must be electronically filed with the DMV before a CDL is issued.

I too have had to sit down or lay down for ten minutes before so I could get my numbers low enough to pass the 140/90 requirement. Seems like there should be some kind of trick to make your BP go down for a short amount of time. Maybe I will google "reduce bp fast" or something like that. Any suggestions anyone?
