i have been driving bout 1 1/2 years now
what i have noticed is that the miles on a run both empty and loaded
are always off 40 or 50 miles in the companies favor
    never in my favor
    now i am not stupid
over the course of a year this adds up to a lot of money
multiplied by every driver they do this to
    isnt this illegal ?
i use a gps navigator and know precisely how many miles to anywhere
this company i work for is definitely better than the last one
    but...........
    if i find something better
i am always willing to listen to advice
    thanks

PC Miler practical is the most common.

    It's often off by 10-25%.

you only get paid to drive. you don't get paid to deliver or screw around in town making delivery.

i've seen anywhere from a 5 to 15 percent shave.

welcome to the trucking industry. lol

they've been doing this for yrs.

zip code to zip code. and it's 20 miles outside of town.

    oh, well.

it used to HHG. house hold goods.

moving company miles for a straight truck, shortest route. includes goat paths and pack mules!!!!!

    How is it illegal?

You were told how they figured out miles prior to starting there. so what's the problem?

If you did not fully understand what they were telling you, then it's up to you to ASK for clarification. With a practical application if you need it.

No one can read your mind for your questions.

Illegal? no. Immoral? Probably. With today's technology, it's easy to get to the 0.1 mile from point to point. Need to change the route? You can do that on the fly, too. I don't know the answer of getting the drivers paid for the miles they drive POINT TO POINT, w/o sight-seeing along the way. There is one, I'm sure. Getting companies on board with that is the big problem.

I bid my loads and I use Google map. I plot the route I am actually going to take and price it accordingly.

It's kind of interesting the responses you get from a broker at times.
