Granted some of you drivers out there truly have some great recovery skills under extremely bad weather, I don't or don't pretend I do. However, do you really want to look at the family of the person you killed and say things like "snow doesn't stop me", "I'm used to bad weather", "I can handle my truck on ice", "forced dispatch", "load has to get there on time", "I had enough weight to drive through", "but .... I used chains", "not my fault chains broke off...", "45mph is slow enough", "I was driving as slow as the 4 wheelers", "I thought I had the skills", etc.... ???
lonewolf4ad and driver4015 Thank this. -
i just stop. if its just snow and its not piling up bad i can deal with it but heavy snow and def. ice is a no go for me plain and simple.
some people call me scared but i have yet to wreck and i have seen way to many drivers trucks and cars pass me running like a bat outta hell just to wind up in the ditch or median. Just last year bout 150 miles from my house i left out and hit a good storm bout 3 inches an hour, and a ford p/u entered from a ramp and slid across infront of me twice and the 2nd time i missed him by about 1 ft and that told me when the road glazes over even if i feel confortable i need to park and hide from the other motorists

Just fine I'm retired and looking out my living room window.
