How worried should I be about Yellow now?

Before all this happened with Yellow, I was offered a job from them but their dodgy equipment and the commute to the terminal put me off accepting.

Speaking of the job market tho. You know times are tough when even speaking to a police officer the other month, he was wanting to go be a custodian as he was tired of dealing with the politics, danger, scheduling and lousy pay. Might have to go back to cleaning as well since not having any luck finding decent trucking work with no experience.

Every town around me is begging for workers for every department
Police , fire , trash trucks , water department, parks department etc etc

    fire depends is the best
All the perks of being a cop without the hate .

it’s weird how things can change

20-25 years ago you didn’t get a job at a fire department without knowing someone

in my state they are begging for game wardens and state troopers

25 years ago if your uncle wasn’t a state senator or something , there was no way you were getting hired as a game warden .

    can’t blame the cops though
CNN made sure that everyone in the country hated cops , and now , surprise surprise , no one wants to be a cop

one I know was a cop for six years , and after the riots and CNN bashing cops , he quit to become and insurance agent for State Farm .
He’s making more than double the money working from home in his pajamas .
No more working from 5 in the evening till 5 in the morning , no nights and weekends and holidays etc

    can’t blame him a bit .

there are still some trucking companies hiring new drivers with no experience, but now they can be a little more picky .

the heavy haul one I know of that hires new drivers with no experience, does an extensive background check,
Your credit and driving record have to be squeaky clean , and the criminal record has to be non existent.

they are willing to teach you how to drive a heavy haul rig , but they can’t teach you to not be a deadbeat and pay your bills , they can’t teach you to not get arrested , they can’t teach you to not drive 20 over or get a dui .

Their training is 9 months at half pay that the drivers get .
Trainees get 10% of the gross to the truck .
    Drivers get 20%
