I had the same #### thing happen to me when I worked at a mega carrier. I was probably in my 2nd month of solo driving.

My hours started at 10:00 and the pickup was for 11:30. Had to get an empty trailer as well and what not, by the time I got to the shipper it was 11:42. I ended up sitting there until 18:00, when I asked for detention they told me the delay was because I was 12 minutes late and I would not be paid any detention. Even though there was barely anyone there.

Told my company either pay or I'll empty my truck right here and go home (lived literally 10 minutes away). They caved in and payed me the detention, I do not recommend this if you live in the US since y'all got that company rap sheet crap I forget what you guys call it.

2 things I took away from it.

1.If you even think you're gonna be late just send a message to your driver manager anyway. It'll save your ### on detention. (Haven't been screwed over for late detention since that day)

    2. Take it as a possible loss and don't make that same mistake again. Mega carriers know how to screw you in not paying you.

You can try to dispute it but it may not work in your favor.

Mega carrier dispatchers from my experience are some of the most stupid people I've ever met in my life. Example, planning 500 mile runs and only given 8 hours to do it with a 62mph truck.
