    You’ll fail.

You have a lot to learn, and you don’t understand even what attracts owners.

My suggestion is this, get a cdl, get in the cab with your dad for a few years and learn everything about how he runs his truck.

then go back and think about becoming a carrier and leasing trucks on.

sober up, revisit your post in the morning and dream some more

your responses sound like the type of boss that won’t shut up using words he’s overheard from coworkers or employees, “oh yeah yeah the bell housing!….”yep definitely the wheel bearing!” **sips monster while leaning back in chair watching espn of desktop” “good rates comin’ outta Florida ehh!!”

Where are you going to buy all of these trailers? How are you going to afford them?

Your holes are that you don't even know what it is that you don't know and the real problem is you really don't want to know what it is that you don't know.

Look, ambition is great. But ambition without a plan that is structured by knowledge and executed with patience is like running a Sprint as fast as you can until you can't breathe and a hundred yards into the race you realize you have 26 miles to go.

You are are being advised by people that have been doing this for a long long time and there is a lot of knowledge to be had here if you just will politely ask and then maturely and responsibly accept those nuggets of wisdom that they are willing to give you.

And by the way you probably don't know who's who. There are people that will answer you they have been in this business probably for longer than you've been alive. Maybe twice as long or more. There are guys that are doing exactly what it is that you want to do there are guys who that have fleets there are guys here that are owner-operators there are guys here who know this business inside out.

And everyone is here to help you. But in order to help yourself you need to listen.

    This needed repeating.

    Well said @Dino soar

I will add... People here don't pull punches for the most part. If you ask a question such as "Where are the holes in my plan?" expect some brutal replies. It's not cause their douche bags on a internet forum, but as Dino said they're REAL people doing what you want to do, or have done it, and at the end of the day their goal is to help...usually. ;)

When someone like the folks in this thread tell you to re-evaluate, or rethink part of your plan, perhaps you should listen to them. Especially when it's more than one of them, and their all saying pretty much the same thing.

Ok, I'm off the soapbox. Back to jokes and goat gifs.

You will go broke only keeping 10% and factoring for payroll.

    Here's what you do.
    1) buy a truck. Lease that truck to landstar or another company that pays weekly. Not every 4 to 6 weeks.
Start a LLC trucking company. Hire a driver approved by the company. Put them in that truck. Have your dad dispatch while you watch the numbers. Reinvest all your money into another truck.
Do this until you have 4 or so trucks. Then save all profits until you get to 50 or 60 k. Then take one truck from said lease Carrie and have them run under your numbers in stead of who ever you leased to, rinse and repeat the next three trucks. Should take about 7 years.
Or stay with the leased onto to company.
But either way you don't hire owner operators, you hire employees. Big difference.
