You guys are talking to yourselves. The OP bailed at 3:51 PM yesterday and hasn't been back. Do you think maybe he got the impression that his idea wasn't so great after all?

They were not all smart. Im here to offer any info I can to help someone. Especially anyone new, we all were new once. Just not sure how to handle the sensitive ego of younger folks.

Don't mean this out of terms. Really don't know how to relate anymore.

 

I don't know either. Since I hit the 3/4 century mark I'm understanding why the older people all seemed to be grumpy when I was a kid.
I don't mind helping people. Even the dumb ones, if their attitude is good. We can straighten them out and send them off down the path they're looking for. But when they ask for advice when what they really want is validation of some idiotic plan that's doomed to failure and then they argue with you, I run out of patience pretty quick.

 

Off subject here. I'm 38 now, but when I was 15 and just learning trucks, there was this "old guy" truck driver (60s at the time) and whatever it was he just ripped your ### up one side and down the other. Rip you for replacing a brake can a little different than he would, you're not holding the tools right, your dripped grease you dumb effer, let me show you how to do that dumb ###, now you made me mess up my perfect silver hair!

But when I turned 18, that crabby "old man" let me use his '92 379 for my drive test without hesitation. I was nervous as all get out asking him. But his equipment would pass the pretrip no problem. He even shook my hand after I passed.

That "old man" and a couple other "old men" that ripped on me when I was younger shaped who I am today. And I am forever thankful.

 

You have a father with 30 years in the industry yet you're asking a bunch of strangers questions he would easily be able to answer. Sorry, I'm calling BS here.
