Hello from the great state of Texas. Just did a tour of Roadmasters today, contemplating getting my CDL. Just wanted to say hello.

Howdy.
I just graduated from Roadmaster. I attended the campus in Columbus OH.
Not a bad school, but about a week too short plus a bit expensive (about $333.00 a day) IMO. You spend the 1st 4 days in class, which reduces your actual "wheel" time during their 15 day course.
I had far too many instructors that seemed to be more interested in talking/texting on their cell phones than teaching. Also, their equipment wasn't very well maintained.
Let me give you a bit of friendly advice. Think very hard about this decision and do a lot of research (this board is a great place to start with).
Freight is pretty slow right now across the nation. Average starting pay for comapnies willing to hire newbies is only about $.28 a mile. So keep that in mind when you are factoring in if you can even afford to drive a truck.
I made the mistake of shelling out the cash to go to school before I researched the current trucking market.
Welcome aboard and good luck to ya.
