Just by chance and perhaps by fate or Divine Providence I happened to see one of HSM's company trucks twice today in my area and I decided to check them out. Not only do they have a manufacturing facility in my immediate area but they are also hiring CDLA drivers so I applied ASAP. I think I will stop in tomorrow and chat them up a bit.

The truck was a decent looking Volvo 760 with an APU. They pay well and their scheduling is a perfect fit for my wants and needs. If anyone wants to say some prayers for Marian I would appreciate it, I've been looking around for jobs in this area and have not had much luck finding such a good fit.

Any feedback from anyone on this company be it direct experience or even anecdotal input would be appreciated.

I had a good friend work there for several years.Hickory Springs(HSM) Hickory NChas been around for years. There competition is a company called Leget platt if that helps you they are smaller than them.it’s a good job they haul there products out and broker loads back home they use to unload and come back empty but changed that years ago and pis@@ off the older drivers and they quit.usually home mid week and weekends. Most likely mid 80s a year could be more now pay is mileage and off the hub miles.trucks run 72 a couple years ago anyway.good benefits and vacation time you could do a lot worse . I think if you’re out of NC you will drive Frighliners I think the Volvos are out of Ohio I think

I have had two phone interviews with this company for one of their Midwest locations and here are some further details I can share about the company:

+ Volvo 760 - new replacements soon. APU

Delivery area is from Denver to Florida, some NE & NYC

    - May need to leave Sunday afternoon more often than I would like. Occasionally may need to work an entire weekend.

+High pay and good benefits, incredibly high driver retention

    - Old trailers with issues

*I am still very interested in working with this company but for all the positives they have I was met with aspects of the job that I'm not terribly thrilled about. Oh well, no job is perfect.
