In his defence, Bloomburg is really stuck between a rock and a hard place. Have you considered the logistics of quickly evacuating NYC? It ain't easy, or even really possible.

Back in the late 70's or early '80's, there was a nuclear meltdown scare at Three Mile Island, Harrisbug PA. The order to evacuate went out immediately. Within a half hour of the evacuation order was issued, every major highway leading out of Harrisburg was deadlocked. And Harrisburg has way more ways in and out than Manhattan or Long Island, which are wholly dependent upon a few bridges and tunnels.

I'm delivering in Syracuse Tuesday morning. How bad do they predict it there. From what I can tell the storm is going to make a beeline for central NY.

I have a friend who is camping out on Manhattan until the storm passes. He is currently expecting to be able to return to Jersey Tuesday morning.

And he's camping out in the office building he works in, with his boss's full knowledge. Most of the staff are so they will be able to make it to work tomorrow. That's more dedication than I would show for a job...

Just finished reading your post. Syracuse may be protected by the mountains, depending on where the storm makes landfall. Call ahead and see if the reciever is open.

I've driven through these kinds of storms.
THEY ARE NOTHING TO PLAY WITH. THEY CAN KILL YOU.
this is not just a rain storm. wind gusts as of now are still at 80 mph.
WV is calling for blizzard conditions around Beckley. 2-4 inches today and 5-8 inchesTuesday with HIGH winds.
    N. Carolina mts- 8-15 inches of snow in the higher elevations.

these wind gusts will knock your truck over. ever been thru Wyoming?? same thing.

barometric pressure is still dropping in the storm,(strengthening), wind up to 104 mph, now.

    has started turning inland.

I am not being a fear monger either. I've driven Eastern seaboard and west coast and Canada.
some storms are just plain dangerous
