I just started to hear a humming noise that sounds like it's coming from the front end, maybe. When the jake engages it goes away. Sounds like wheel bearings to me. Any thoughts?

I've never noticed any humming....mostly hearing those darned boom box trunk units ...sounds like a marching band right out the window...of course sometimes I feel it before I hear it!

Do you have oil or grease hubs. Do you hear noise when stopping?

They are grease hubs. When you come to a stop you hear it.

When last time serviced? Did steer hubs get hot. Right side of truck right?

I would not drive until you inspect . With bad wheel bearing the wheel can fall off. I would pull bearing cap on right wheel first. Takes only a few minutes. And it tends to take the most punishment.

Wheel bearings are good. The noise is coming from the transmission. Truck only has 154k on it so it's still under warranty. Kennworth won't do crap untill it fails. So I will just turn up the radio a little and wait till it brakes.

That's sucks they won't fix it until it broke. Leave you stranded under a load. May try different dealer. You in south Florida?

Ok turns out the noise was coming from the rear end, front axle. I lost the main gear yesterday in Tappen ND. I flipped on the power divider and I am still running. Everything looks good, axles are running cool. Does anyone have a opinion on how long I can run on the power divider? I will be picking up a load today that's going to put me at 117k gross, I pull a train. Taking this over the bighorns into Worland WY. I think she's up to it. Then I will take her in for repairs. This is a Weller rear 3.70

Drove my w900 frm California to florida. I removed axles and capped . Then filled her up with oil. Till I could get any more in. I had to ship my divider cylinder . Was staying inhaled.
