Was wondering if mag carriers has many team drivers? Also was curious if mag carriers give veterans discount on trailer rental? Dry van rentals only?
Percent isn't everything. You have to ask what the percent is a percent of. 90% of $1.00 is $0.90 65% of $3.00 is $2.00
So the broker gets a percentage, then the company gets some. You seem to have tunnel vision with only this one company is sight. You have been running for pennys during one of the most lucrative times in this industry in years. Why don't you look at some O/O companies like Landstar or Mercer, to name a couple, that have direct customers. Like @slow.rider and others have said. It's not the percentage you run for, it's how much can you make.
I can guarantee you that some of the $1.05 loads they have hauled were paying over $3.00 a mile, so the carrier was giving them less than 40% .
I work for Mag I negotiate my own rate then the rate conformation gets emailed to the company. Mag doesn't even know the rate you agreed on until they get the email. If you can't make a living with them it's not their fault. You must learn how to dispatch yourself and negotiate the rate you need. When you show brokers you are reliable they will be calling you begging to take loads. You get 90% of the load if you have a trailer or 83% if you pull theirs minus deductions for me it's 235 a week.
