After readin' that question, I'm AfterShocked and speechless. You're askin' a question usually asked by a trainee. A driver trainer should know the answer and the reasons why the Grapevine can be "horrible", especially when descending the north side empty (headed) or loaded, full (of it).

Are you still making reference to the Grapevine?
If so, your recollection of the Vine isn't too accurate. That's understandable if you've only experienced the Grapevine grade a couple of times. But by the fifth or sixth time, an alert Big truck truck driver recognizes many reasons why the Grapevine can be "horrible", and does what's necessary to avoid being caught-up in one of those "horrible" multiple vehicle crashes that the Vine is famous for. Or a free ride up an escape ramp, followed by a very expensive extraction involving a heavy recovery vehicle, or two. Those guys don't come cheap, but they're called to come and pluck Big trucks bogged down up the escape ramps, --- or over the side of the mountain, too often. It seems there are more than plenty of clueless Big truck truck drivers who have to actually experience the dangerous, --- possibly disastrous --- situations, that the wiser, more experienced, Big truck truck drivers try to explain to those who haven't come to the realization of how quickly things can go from good to a disaster lookin' for a place to happen when driving in the mountains with steep descents so that they're aware and, hopefully, avoid those situations. Some of them will listen and learn. Some of them won't listen or even consider the warnings and sage advice offered to them by drivers with far more mountain driving experience. Not to say they won't eventually learn, although it could be learned by first-hand experience, too.
    If they survive said experience

    ReallY?
Personally, I haven't experienced a false sense of security when descending steep mountain grades. And I'm past the fear factor that I had for the first few weeks. What I feel now is concern and confidence with a healthy dose of respect.
And I don't leave home without those mind-sets.
    Learn not to repeat yourself.
This is the second time in the same paragraph that you're suggesting I "learn" how to do something that I'm obviously able to do quite well as a matter of fact. That causes me some concern about your ability to recognize and/or identify things that are obvious. Perhaps I've been giving you too much credit.

    There is another possibility though.
You tellin' me to "learn how to read" could be a passive-aggressive, snide innuendo made in an attempt to insult me, which would indicate a less than stellar attitude on your part, and not appreciated, or deserved, on my part.
I hope that's not the case and you'll explain your meaning more clearly so I'll know where I stand in your opinion, --- giving me an opportunity to adjust my attitude and opinion accordingly.

First off it's level going northbound into the 35 zone, and it is well marked. You don't go from 55 to 35. Just past the fire station is the 1st warning its going to drop to 45, a mile later it drops to 45, a mile later it tells you it is going to drop to 35, and again its not a idle promise it does drop to 35, if you look to the right you will normally see a CHP cruiser setting under the tree by the on ramp. But you have gone by at least 6 signs telling you to slow down. (not to mention all those bright red lights on the backs of the trailers).

51 in a 35, 16 over he could go to jail as reckless endangerment on a grade. A week later, really. Slow learner ??

I don't have a problem with the 51. Kiss away about 800.00 bucks for the tickets and another 1000.00 for a attorney, they should actually give you a cut rate since I'm sure they have a pre-written letter for that area. But they won't.

Be nice to the cop he is the one in Kern County that is going to decide if the judge is going to lower the ticket to like, coasting or seat belt. If the cop tells the judge no then it does not get reduced. No joke the Judge is going to consult with the cop, right wrong or indifferent it is what it is...

AfterShock, learn how to ####### read. I did not talk about the ####### grape vine. I haven't been down the grapevine in years either, but I sure don't remember it being bad enough to warrant a 35 speed limit. Learn how to ####### read.

That's about as clear as you can get it.
I read you loud and ####### clear now.

    See?
    I learn pretty quick.
    How 'bout you, Phroziac?
I see you still repeat yourself.
    Probably a memory thang.
    Ya reckon.

    Say WhaT?
I've misunderstood "*EVERYTHING*" else that you've said?
That's pretty serious. I better go back and re-read every one of your 2,000+ posts as though I was readin' 'em through your "college level 102 english" eyes instead of my own.
That's one of the drawbacks of an advanced education. After graduation with a masters degree, majoring in advanced communication skills and practical applications, and a minor in applied phraseology, it's sometimes confusing when trying to dummy-down enough to understand the more common, less accurate, language of the streets, --- often referred to as gutter-level English or, as you say, "english". (Noting the absence of a capital "e", -- indicating a lack of importance. The same rule applies to "i") -- But I well understand the importance of understanding EVERYTHING you say/write at the college 102 level english that you favor.

A quick question though, just to get up to speed, --- are you sayin' you attended a college level english 102 class, so therefor it's your contention that your communication ability is "beyond" my comprehension? If so, the content of instruction you received obviously wasn't at University level. I'm guessin' probably community Jr. College or continuation classes at night, taken to earn credits toward a G.E.D. to satisfy the Big truck truckin' companies' basic, entry level requirements for employment in an industry that you aspired to become a part of, after dropping out of whatever institution of higher learning that you attended.

I imagine it's a challenge for you tryin' to decipher all the CB chatter, -- with echo and reverb on high. Roger?
    *beep*.

Now-a-daze the airwaves are riddled with inconsiderate, self-centered, conceited, knuckle draggin', low-brow dim-wits with bloated egos who exaggerate their importance while lookin' down their noses at those whom they consider to be below them intellectually.
Yeah, I know, they're sick in the head, but doing so causes them to feel better about themselves. However, no matter what is said, the truth prevails and their actions are in vain. All it takes is average intelligence to see through the smoke they're blowin', and exposes the fool they really are.
    But, ....................... I digress -----------------------

Well, I better cut this post short. I have a lot of re-readin' to accomplish to determine if there's anything else that you've said that I don't understand. I'm versed in speed-readin' though, so this shouldn't take more than a few hours, -- tops, to discover everything you know. The problem that I anticipate is stayin' awake long enough to complete the task
Some folks count sheep to fall asleep.
For me, it's readin' lackluster material.
On the plus side, I figure I'll be well rested at the conclusion.
    So, ...............................
    It's all good.
    Don't worry
    Be happy.
