I’d be willing to bet there’s a dedicated deal you can find. There’s dedicated runs that have multiple loads daily. I ran automotive loads 400 miles each way for 7 years. Anytime there was a problem, the next Driver coming along could swap loads and deliver, if needed. If pressed on delivery times, that process could repeat itself several times. Each time moving the loads forward on schedule. Considering you have a Team, you’re more likely to be the ones helping out in a jam. That fact might be enough to seal a deal. We had a husband/wife team that ran 1 round per day. 5 days per week. That gave them 4000 miles per week. Occasionally they ran solo. More often the wife stayed home. It worked good for them. It’s possible. Once your no longer under dispatch, your on personal conveyance. Possibly drive home from somewhere, no different than driving your personal vehicle home from work. I don’t know the specific rules of your religion. Maybe an option?

Sage Truck Driving School in Dallas..
Although I can’t speak for the Dallas location, Sage in general is top tier training. All one on one driving. You will get your money’s worth.
I went to Sage in Fort Pierce, FL . It was through Indian River State College. Price was $5,200 +/- and I think they haven’t increased since I went.Tribunal Thanks this. -
My first truck driving job back in 85 was for a Jewish family..never worked a single Saturday. Got all their other holidays off too. Was a great place to work and looking back wish I stayed with them.
Unfortunately I was young and they had a strict policy of once you leave you can’t come back.Sirscrapntruckalot, 201, smokey12 and 2 others Thank this. -
You know, my 1st boss knew I was Jewish, late 70s, "that Jewish kid with the big nose", he said I heard from others, but I never advocated my faith, mainly because it never came up. I never asked for a Jewish holiday off. Nobody asked, just "pull the leeevers".
See, the thing is with orthodox Jews, is if truly dedicated, at 12:01 Sat. morn., it's lights out until 12:01 Sunday morning,, NO EXCEPTIONS! Trucking just doesn't work like that. I'd have to think a boss would be pretty upset if you told them you can't make that Mon. morning delivery. Generally speaking, I worked very few weekends, but doesn't mean I didn't come a rolling in at 4:30 Sat. morning. I'd think a more stable 9-5 job would be much more suitable, but trucking, especially today is just too unpredictable.smokey12, Concorde, lual and 1 other person Thank this. -
You guys are doing it wrong. I've been married for 30 years. I just asked my wife how many times I've been wrong. She said once. She mumbled something else too but never looked up from her phone. So I'm going with once.Sirscrapntruckalot, smokey12, Tribunal and 2 others Thank this.

Actually depending on the company, you would be surprised. When I first started in this biz in 84, I was in an active army reserve unit. We had 1 drill a month (Fri-Sat-Sun) and 2 weeks in the "summer" (February - I was in an arctic warfare unit). And the company I worked for made it happen because they knew when and why I needed to be home. Was never a problem.
If the company knows you cant move on saturday, and they hire you anyway... Then they have nothing to say when you cant move on saturday... -
Companies, by federal law, are required to adjust to accommodate required duty for Guard & Reserve soldiers, or at least hold their job open for them when they come back to work. That's not required for every accommodation other than military service.

Yea - bottom line is if they hire me with this understanding I won't really care if they get upset when I stand my ground on the topic. Literally it will not bother me at all... and if it equals getting fired, then I move on in life. So it doesn't bug me.
My wife and I are looking into a community college after the holidays to make the CDL happen and I have found a couple companies where it might work for Regional...
