A company I was leased to had a ton of dry van stuff going to Austin IN every week. They are based out of Minnesota. They have dry vans, flats, conestoga, and heavy step decks.

I’m pretty sure UPS are all company trucks, but they are all team trucks to my knowledge?

Most of truckers who are "O/O" make the big mistake when dealing with brokers or shippers.
when a trucker with 1,2 ,5 10 trucks/drivers (small business owner) compromises, in advance, to haul loads , the whole purpose of this business is out to the window. The trucking business, for small business owners, is about OPPORTUNITIES !
we are here to take advantage of the opportunities. when big companies and corporations can't haul extra loads, we are there and we are going to charge what we deserve , which is more than what big companies and corporations charge.
big companies and corporations can haul loads for less money because they pay less for diesel, parts , labor, equipment and everything else. they can easily avoid paying taxes, they can get cheap labor from other countries (workers visa) some corporations get subsidies from the government (tax cuts)
it is inconceivable for me , when truckers intent to compete with mega carriers and buy few trucks and lower their rates , so they can get loads !!! that is fkn crazy!!!!! think about that .
and worse , truckers willingly sign contracts with big companies , corporations in which basically truckers are paying to those companies to work for them . those truckers, for every mile run, they pay at least 2 dollar per mile, plus the responsibility of taking care of the equipment and insurance and if anything happens to the freight , those truckers are the responsible party, period!!! and not benefits!!!! no SS, no medical, no dental , no vacation , no 401k. you are killing this industry. if you are going to sign those contracts, at least make sure you are going to be treated like a partner , 50/50 .
I don't even want to touch those truckers who have more than 1 truck and hired drivers. what you doing ??? you are not paying your drivers the fair amount , you are not giving benefits, medical insurance , vacation , 401k, do you ? so all you doing is perpetuering the abuse and exploitation. you are doing exactly what those big companies and corporations were doing to you , and you run away from it, but you can do to others without any remorse???
so, that is my take. we are in this situation because greed and selfishness. we can't continue doing this to each other. at the end of the day, we are the ones who must take the responsibility for what is going on, and we must fix it.

Crazy how things work out. Thank you Jesus looks like we may be pulling some dry van for JB hunt, not totally sure yet but it’s a possibility. God works in mysterious ways.

if this is the case we will still run under our own authority.

Are you guys a true team or operate more as a super solo? How many miles per week do you prefer? What rate per mile all odometer miles are you looking to get if all expenses are paid aside from the truck and fuel?

    Oxbow Thanks this.

If you could provide 5000 miles a week at 2.50 a mile we would do that.

Id be surprised if JB is paying more then $2/mi and certainly not paying your liability/collision insurance and IFTA among other things like tolls.
