Oh yea,,when you get on the truck throw out the padded cardboard mattress, we got a very good foam mattress tha smoothed out the ride and kept you from rolling around. Only disadvantage they are stiff if left in zero weather until they warm up,,about 2 hrs...only bugged us on Mondays when we came out of the house...no biggee...

I think its wonderful that you both have the same interests! Both of you getting your licence makes the most sense. Like someone else mentioned, you both don't necessarily have to use it right away. Living in a truck together while being otr can go either way. My boyfriend taught me to drive so for about 3months while still working at my previous job I went with him whenever I could. I loved every minute of it and so did he. Neither of us got too worn out as both of us drove. We got to spend more time together then ever since we met. When I got my cdl and started in my own truck I was sure id be sad to be alone on top of all the other concerns of being a truck driver, especially being a woman driver. That didnt last long however. Ive realized our driving techniques are different enough to make it hard to even run together in seperate trucks. Occasionally we'll just happen to be at the same place at the same time and run together for a while and thats great. We team drove this spring a little and Ive found out now I have a hard time sleeping while the trucks running down the road (and when I do I have weird dreams), we need to stop at different times, I cant get used to someone besides my dog in my space, and he has poor housekeeping skills. All of which makes me laugh since I didnt want to go out on my own. You might not have these problems though. I see some couples making it work just fine. Im not sure id be happy just being an assistant. Only you can answer your own question about that. I do like that we have that common interest that we have endless discussions about. Nobody understands a truckdriver and what they go through than another truckdriver. Since I started driving we value our time together so much more and our relationship is stonger than ever.
