    Wow I'm so sorry. I'd feel so unbelievably angry & violated after a break-in, but then to have the police dismissively shrug it off? -- I'd be enraged...

    As far as the upgrade goes, I believe (but am not 100%) that you automatically switch to OTR at your 1 year mark. They explained to me that the upgrade test was just a way to reach that status early.

    Congratulations, by the way, on making it 1 year. You should feel great about outlasting 97% of new drivers. I hope you guys enjoy that paid vacation -- you've earned it!

    That's Oakland for ya! The crime is horrible there. I could hire an attorney and try to hold the shop responsible for being so negligent, but after attorney fees and dealing with our fumbling legal system... don't think the aggravation would be worth it.
    Too much contradiction on all the upgrade stuff. If that was the case, why go in for it one week before we hit our one year mark. Frankly, it should have taken place on February 1st when we were initially called in to do the Upgrade. I guess that dispatcher missed point 3) of Mr. Parker's welcome letter that said, "Business will be conducted using Christian principles at all times."
    Is it REALLY 97%?? Wow, that is high! I thought "maybe 80%"? Guess we should be proud!

    that is some bad luck with the truck gettin broke in to. did the truck shop do anything to make it right? who was it we'll make sure not take our truck to that place. did your company help you?

    Hey there DedicatedDriver! Read some of your other posts. The physical portion is not difficult at all. Most get through it with ease. And before you get on the trainer's truck, just sit down with your s/o and make up your minds that you both understand that the following months to come will come with many challenges, but approach each one as a learning experience. When you are stressed, take a deep breath and remember that it will pass and learn from each obstacle. You will have MANY thrown at you. Before we started, we did our research and knew that this would be kind of like a Bootcamp training. And in many ways it has! There will be times when you have "down" time. Make sure you are financially prepared with a bit of savings to fall back on. We wish you well. Take a bunch of notes from your trainer. I did and still refer to them even today.     Thank you for your condolence TNA. Yes indeed, that was some bad luck. And No, the Truck center did nothing to make it right. I personally feel they were negligent in leaving ALL those trucks that were robbed unlocked. I would be willing to place a bet that their "personal" vehicles were definitely locked. And the General Manager of the Golden Gate Truck Center never bothered to call me back. We have a police report, but it is just a piece of paper in a stack with the others that were robbed. And No, our company did not help us. It is general knowledge that we are responsible for our own belongings. We did have several drivers at least acknowledge the rotten timing, especially with it being Driver Appreciation week.
    But I have to say, that when we called the Incident Response Center, they did ask if the truck was damaged in any way.

    Who do you work for? Would love to know a good company "that treats drivers like valuable assets". Sounds like a great place to start. ;-)

    Sound like great students, ill how on long ride. And itsnt 35 ddaysmore like 42 to 45 days unless they cheat.

    As you have probably gathered by our lack of posting....
    We are no longer with Covenant Transport.
    Obviously, we were searching for the very same thing.
    I do believe we have found it.
    Today, we met a LIKE-MINDED husband/wife team that shares the same ideals in our new company setting.
    WE LOVE IT!!

    My name is now Rhonda, not 1547244.
    I am treated with respect, which is really all I ever wanted.
    Money was never the issue with me.
    Didn't mind the sitting. Just made it one day closer to my one year goal.
    And last... It is good when "yes means yes" and "no means no."
    I can honestly say....We survived!
