In 2021, you decide you want to own an electric semi as an o/o. You finally get it delivered 3 years later. These are the details you know.
    • It is sleeper capable but needs to be outfitted as a sleeper.
    • You research and find driving lanes that offer gigawatt charging stations are still limited.
    • Weight is limited to 80k lbs with 60mph at a 5% incline carrying that weight.
    • There are cost per mile savings running this truck.
    • Flipping the truck and buying a diesel truck will bring a nice profit because of the long waiting list to receive one.
Questions I have for o/o with this hypothetical.
    1. Where would you run this truck?
    2. What kind of loads will you haul?
    3. Do you sell it at a profit up front, or drive it for it's cost and maintenance savings in the long run?
If I missed something, you can add it in as well.

I don't see how these trucks can be used anywhere besides local ltl operation.
Maybe by 2030 things will be different

Decline my order and keep running my “old junk” until big brother tells me I can’t, by then they should be handing out plenty of this free money I keep hearing about

What would I do? Sell my spot, get my deposit back. Get something like a W900, 389, or 122SD with a big sleeper. Swap in a Cat C18 or Cummins X15.

When They came to get me to bring me to one of The Camps, I fought like a wildcat, but Their sniper eventually got a clear shot.....

well, since from your other posting, we know you are not even in CDL school yet,

    hypothetically speaking.......

the person putting one on order with a huge deposit..???

had still better be an o/o when it comes time to pick it up.

too many variables for anyone to make that deposit, and still be around for delivery, and that is even IF production starts, let alone continues....

    into the years ahead.

best to NOT wait for anything, not on the dealers lot, in more than one configuration, in large quantities.

With the new “infrastructure” bill by 2024 we should have all the bridges, highways and byways rebuilt into the yellow brick road. We won’t need a tesla cause Amazon will move everything in the country one box at a time with drones.

It has at least six more years is development to be practical.

Tesla is leading the EV and auto industry, such a joke that GM and ford is playing catch up they have a long long way to go … especially with innovation.

i test drove a bunch of the GM and ford products recently, they have a long long way to go to be usable and not like a regular car. Tesla, Toyota, Honda and Nissan has the lead.

I would imagine with the semi-truck EV by freightliner, volvo and the others are in the same situation, far far behind Tesla.
