I feel like like I’m at a dead end at least. Lol
I got my CDL in 2014, I drove a bit here and there but I haven’t really used it. I mean I drive class B for my current job. I have a class A with tanker endorsement but I don’t enough experience. My last class A job was a few month stint in 2020. I’m looking for a well paying job that’s local. I’m near Columbia MO. I’ve tried loves, Casey’s, btc, various ltl companies, and some larger ones with local routes but I either am considered to have “no experience” or need to obtain hazmat. Also seems everything is at least an hour drive to get to work. I wouldn’t mind doing something being home every other day or so but my wife and kid both have medical issues that I’d need to be at home for, plus I don’t wanna miss out on a lot of my kids life either. Any suggestions or ideas ? I don’t know if I can handle foodservice tbh. Lol I’m at a loss.

Well when I talked to the recruiter from loves, she basically told me the position I applied for wasn’t really in the location it said. I guess that was the closet major area. It would’ve been almost 2 hours one way. And they didn’t have anything else but if I got hazmat maybe in the future. Idk I need to go get fingerprinted and all that.

    ^^^^^what he said^^^^^

The vast majority of the hazmat loads are NOT:

    • nuclear waste
    • septic tank contents
    • explosives
    • space suit req'd to load/unload
If you pulled loads for a local LTL carrer -- most hazmat loads would be far more mundane than stuff similar to the above....

You couldn't pull fuel loads for Love's, Casey's (or anyone else) without it, anyway.

Saddle up -- and go back and get that hazmat endorsement.

    $$$$$$$$$$$.......

Try bones transportation in ottawa ks. If not @motocross25 knows a few of the other local companys that will likely hire you

Also this. When i did dryvan hazmat 99% of my hazmat loads were mundane things like matches, 1 pound propane bottles, cleaning supplies like bleach, car batterys, camping supplies and such. Most hazmat is pretty mundane household crap that is only actully dangerous because you have an entire truck of it.
