I’m back... with a few questions

Many companies will likely require you to either go through the entire training just like a brand new driver with no CDL - or will require some refresher training and testing.

One great thing about trucking is you can always MOVE.

Florida is a tough nut for a lot of trucking companies and even ones that may hire you will probably have problems with you going home. Unless you own a mansion there free and clear - or have some other attachment that makes it like cutting off an arm to leave it, then think about moving.

Go somewhere outside Atlanta - where the cost of living is lower - but just a short drive to all the amenities you want. The same applies to most ANY city anywhere along major shipping lanes.

You have options. Pick one. CRST may not be the best. It at least gets you some experience. Cypress wants you to go through the course. You have no experience. You may have to bite that bullet. You said Windy Hill took you, barring any setbacks, that should work. Florida is a tough spot for business

 

Cypress is a good co. Flatbed is worlds better than dry van or reefer. You'll make more $ and wont want to murder lazy warehouse workers that dont care how long you sit waiting to be loaded/unloaded.

 

I don't know man. I've pulled dry van, reefer, and flatbed. To me, it's all in the same ball park of income. I think reefer is the most steady. There is more cpm and things like tarp pay in flats, but isn't a real game changer if you're working with fairly large companies, you know the ones that only fuel at pilot and get repairs at TA lol

 

I second FFE. They have a terminal in Dundee. They do not have an opening for regional or local out of that terminal. (I know, I've tried) They do out of the Atlanta terminal. If you do OTR, home time won't be a problem. They will just route you to Dundee for home time.

Melton is across 301 in Sabal industrial park from the trans am building just to give you an idea of the drive. I asked my boss if spring Hill needs anyone so he's checking, I should hear something on Monday.
