There’s a demand for it just like in every aspect of trucking. Everyone’s looking for drivers. Now fair warning a lot of dump work is gonna be seasonal. So it’s gonna be a “make a hay while the sun shines” scenario. It’s also very dependent on the weather. If it rains jobs get called off for a few days. Also dump work is very dependent on the economy, which I can speak from experience is a concern. If things go south and the economy ##### the bed like everyone is predicting, one of the first things to feel the hit is dump work. This may not be too much the case with road work, asphalt things like that. But the other aspects it does. Construction slows, concrete slows, deco rock stops because people stop landscaping. Things like that. But if you can ride that stuff out and get some experience it’s decent and sometimes challenging work. Best of luck.
I’m just starting out and could use some advice.

Getting experience is one of the more difficult aspects of these gigs, in my opinion. Someone has to show you how to drive these rigs, be it dump truck or anything else. All I can say is start knocking on doors and maybe find a outfit willing to train you - Best of Luck -
