I’m looking for a 50ft tire hose with a glad hand hook up.

He’s probably one of the drivers that replaced a truck when air is needed in the tires.

An alternative he could have recommended was nitrogen in it with studs on the rims but doubt he knows about them

Yes, and get it made with Good Year Rubber Air hose, buy 1/2 inch instead of 3/8 inch and let them deal with the adapters. 1/2 won't have as much pressure drop at 50 feet.

No advantage for just airing up tires with 1/2 over 3/8, pressure is the same, volume will be more , except it will be limited to any reducer you put on it.

    Oxbow and LoneRanger Thank this.

That's a good solution, then he'll never have to add air again.

Every so often, one of the truck stops will have these air hose setups on sale, I bought a 50' air hose, with glad hand connection for $49, stopped at harbor freight and bought a quick connect setup, the female end is on the hose, the two make ends, one is on my tire chuck, the other is on my small cut off wheel. Last year my boss spliced my air line for me so it's now 65' so I can reach the rear doors of a 53' trailer.

    You are absolutely right.

Always buy the neon green or orange hoses at the truck stops. They are rated to below zero. The shiny pvc hoses will shatter in that kind of cold. There is an additive that can be put into the PVC mix, but retailers and brand name companies in the USA go cheap and don't specify the PVC mix. I know a little about this from trying to spec a "shatterproof" PVC for a customer that knew their stuff. Ultimately the overseas supplier gave up, none of their product could pass the shatter test.

The other thing about the neon hoses is they are easier to coil or uncoil, even in moderate temperatures.

Next time I’m seating the bead with ether I’ll let you hold the chuck with one hand while you light with the other

    Here’s my input:

Rubber hose from truckstop with gladhand.

Cut off the inflator, replace with a female Universal connector

Harbor freight has all the connectors you’ll need. Make sure to match universal to universal. They also have a variety of chucks to choose from.

For future expansion, you can buy additional lengths of hoses and all sorts of air tools and blow nozzles at HF as well.

Example: extra hose and blow nozzle to clean out those perfectly good trailers some of you ruin with walls and roofs on them. Cutoff wheels, as mentioned before, and paint sprayers to fix that “oops” before you take the trailer back to the yard. Air grease guns for hitting the zercs, Air socket wrenches and impact wrenches for that truckstop engine overhaul on your 34...

Haha some of you all make me laugh. The man wants to put air in his tires and you give him crap. I probably see a truck stop 2-3 times a day on average and not that I’m looking for it but I never see anyone checking their tire pressure. You go to loves and they are three deep at all fuel lanes except the one that checks the tire pressure.
I wish I had a truck and needed to hire a driver, I would hire that guy and ask him to send me the bill for his air hose and I’d pay him cash money on the spot.
