    If you can close down an entire interstate for a year do you really need to even waste money fixing it?

    Besides, if anyone actually keeps track, they'll likely only spend about 1/5th of that time actually having work done on it. Just like any other road work zone in Illinois.

    Some of our roads were being replaced for 15 years. I-57 will be done in 4. Just need them to hurry up and replace the 1962 pavement of concrete plates tearing our vehicles up. They are getting there but slowly.

    To their credit IDOT has been upgrading the roads in recent years (I remember 30 years ago I-90 between Rockford and Hoffman Estates only being 2 lanes in each direction). As they said it was better to shut the whole thing down and get it done in one fell swoop.

    They did something like that when they did the big road through Bloomington, nice when they got it done, though.
