Just got a phone call from down in West Memphis that they are closing I-40 at some point this afternoon. Trying to confirm this as I type...
Has anyone else heard of this, or anything related to it, from Arkansas toward Memphis?
This is the only thing that I have been able to find thus far (on facebook). Trying to confirm the reliability of the post that I have included below. (checking Tenn and Ark DOT websites now to no avail)
Motorist Alert For I-40 Tennessee/Arkansas: Motorist traveling I-40 in Arkansas are advised to seek other routes. The Arkansas Highway and State Transportation Department advises that I-40 will be closed sometime this afternoon(Wednesday) due to high water at milemarker 202 (82 miles from Memphis). This is near Brinkley, Arkansas
I am not trying to cause panic, rather trying to confirm. If this is in the incorrect section, I apologize.

I was just through there yesterday and didn't see any water that appeared in imminent danger of flooding I-40. There were a few spots OFF the highway where the water was pretty high around some buildings and in a few parking lots. Did it rain some more since yesterday?

Big Duker Thanks this. -
I ran part of the detour yesterday and it took 2 1/2 hrs to run just the stretch of 64 between 49 and 67. I took 1 to 64 and probably saved another 2 hours. If I have to do it again I will just use the easr bypass to go west.
