A two vehicle crash in Putnam County yesterday resulted in a fatality. The highway patrol says a 2014 Freightliner operated by 54-year-old Christopher Mooneyhan of Portland, Tennessee was traveling east at the 275 mile marker when he left the road, went across the median and hit the trailer of a westbound 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer operated by 32-year-old Khurshed Ahmedor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After impact, Mooneyhan continued off the right side of the roadway striking an earth embankment and his semi caught on fire. Mooneyhan passed away at the scene. Ahmedor was restrained and not hurt. Westbound traffic was backed up for hours as a result of the accident.

Look to the extreme right of the photo, almost halfway to the upper right and middle right of the photo, there’s a wire fence in the median.

I hate to burst your bubble but someone already made me look dumb earlier. My slip ups are only allowed to commented on once in a thread.....that's the rules.

Completely believable. I've missed two head on collisions in the last 4 years.

First would have been with a W900 on US54 in New Mexico. Went by him at 60ish in the emergency lane as he and a 379 came around a curve. Fortunately there was e lane there. Most of that stretch has none. About 1000. Visibility unlimited.

Second was about a year ago. Toyota Camray I think. Divided 4 lane highway. US271 just above Texas border. Missed him by the length of a pack of cigarettes @65 mph. About midnight. He's just coming down the wrong side of a divided highway.

Still don't know how I fully missed him, and he didn't at least go under the trailer.

I was 72K. Would have been a very bad night for him.
