Consider 55mph speeds, No alternatives from the 5 from Sacramento to Seattle, congestion, Oregon being really anti-truck, snow and lots of it in the winter months, (Redding to Portland) and lots of L.A. to S.F., as in sit around all day, load, then drive all night to make your delivery.

You can make good money if you can get hooked up with loads going to either FT. Lewis or the sub-base.....And then you might haggle up lumber loads back down....That is if you tug a skateboard....
Problem is...you have to find the right mills to get the right rate.....
If you pull from mills....Try to get a big gun...not the small mills that hire illegals.....They're the ones put out the tarped loads for under a buck a mile.... -
That was our absolute worst run. Going up and down 5! Fuel is expensive, lots of traffic during the week, lots of traffic during the weekend, burning fuel going through the mountains, 55mph and it CA you get a ticket for doing 56! Bad weather ie: fog, snow, blowing garbage blizzards! Absolutely no where to park. If you do find a place you have to pay someone to watch your truck! Man rarely am I negative but I really hated driving 5. Sorry guys!

Like there's no bad weather on the 70 running through UT or CO?......
I have run into snow and ice running the 10 through El Paso before.....Uh...last time I checked....We're expected to run in all sorts of weather and traffic conditions.....
Ashland is probably the worst coop...but then again....Put yourself in DOT's shoes.....Stupid friggin' NAFTA drivers think they can run down Siskyou grade 60+....They come right up through the coop with drums smoking away......
There's a sign posted before the grade that's has mandated speed limits for each weight range....Yet...NAFTA drivers and some American drivers think they have better brakes and better jakes.....JimDriv3r and scottied67 Thank this. -
Edit....There are parts in NV that are so remote....The cell doesn't work...nor does the satellite.....Like you're on a different planet if you know what I mean.....Well....if you like excitement...run the 93 in NV at night between 11 pm and 5 am..........Just watch out for ET....that's their "Stomping grounds".....JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
