You didn't say anything about where the load out of Seattle is going. If it's L.A., think about it, basically 1100 miles....so your range of 500 -750 would equate to $0.455 - $0.682 per mile...however, if those loads go to Sac or Bay area, 750 miles...then you are looking at $0.667 - $1.00 per mile.

Divide the rate amount by the miles equals your pay per mile. Do you know your fixed costs to run your truck? Insurance, fuel consumption (per mile), permits, plates...all expenses involved in operating your rig per mile....this is where you start by knowing your costs to operate. any way you look at it...what you stated as rates out of Seattle...how soon do you want your attorney drawing up bankruptcy papers?

Round numbers your fixed expense is going to run between .55 and .60 cpm depending on fuel fluctuation.

Seattle to Los Angeles 1100 miles @ 0.60 =$660.00 they pay $750.00 so you make $ 90.00 for your time and trouble...... I would think again before you leap... Even a tire repair sends for you into negative money for weeks..

yes i know my cost to run and as i said according to my calculator i need about 3400 a week (about 1.39 cpm), and him telling me that kinda took the wind out of my sails and i stalled on buying my own truck. the reason for my question was i was just wanting to see if he was quoting low in hopes of getting more from me and maybe if i went somewhere else the real rates may come forward....so was only looking to see if anyone was up on what the goin reefer rates were up and down I-5

1.39? How much are you going to pay yourself? Or do you just want to maintain the truck and drive it for nothing? Consider if you were driving someone else's truck. YOU would be paid $.xx per mile, that would have to come out of your employer's costs. Why do people forget to PAY THEMSELVES?????

One thing I noticed, if you will be leasing to a carrier the insurance should not be $8400 per year. You will only need physical damage and bobtail. 3-5 grand per year depending on driving record and value of the equipment and such.
