The crossing over the Continental Divide on I-40 is around 6000'. Much lower than anything north. I like the scenery. Catch the Navajo radio station in eastern Arizona.

Kansas is the land of escape from Colorado and Wyoming not that it's fool proof tho .
81 out of Nebraska to McPherson ks and grab 61 south to Hutchinson to 50 west to 56 to dodge city ..283 south to 54 west ...this route takes ya around the dumb dumbs in great bend .
Lots of ways to go tho .
Don't speed thru okla on 54 ! ..or new Mexico !
There's a cop in every town waiting for you .
    Mead ks either .

80 to 15 is the best. Best highway as well, especially 15.

I just 2 laned it through Wyoming. Diagonal down from the Northeast corner ( This is a hint to Truckstop 2 also ), it's a snap.

    80 to 15...

If the 80 and 70 aren't jacked up that is.

Alternatively you could run two-lane through Colorado and down to the 40. Co-59 southbound outta Seibert, Kit Carson hop on the 287, there's a scale by Lamar, 385 all the way to Dalhart, and then the 54 will spit you out by Tucumcari. Been that way a handful of times outta Laredo towards Denver.

Only problem I have with i70 through the mountains is other drivers. During winter, the snow bunnies to their resorts. They’re awful. Don’t care about the ice. They don’t even think about your ability to stop.
    I will take 25 to 40.
In Ca. depends on where you’re going. Might consider 58 out of Barstow to 14. That drops you into the Valley.
