Some states have gone to requiring them in any home that has any type of combustion fire.
Water heaters, wood stoves, gas furnaces, kitchen range and attached garage are all items that require a CO detector.
I ALMOST didn't wake up this morning

Everything is part of your pre trip on the truck from front to back. Just cause it's not a box to check off on the back of your log page you should still check everything you can.
Sometimes things are overlooked or it just goes over your head but that's someone that says $h!t happens.
We learned something from word of mouth instead of personal expirence today. "Buy a co2 detector" if you lifes worth more than 42 bucks.Last edited: Sep 15, 2011

Scary stuff. I'm glad you're ok!
Thanks for sharing your story. Coming from a newbie to trucking, I know it will stick with me to keep an eye on things like this. -
I get my were/where and their/there mixed up sometimes but other than that I think I do pretty well. We all understand each other but thanks for the heads up, I'll try to stay on top of it more. When in doubt google spell check. I admit I'm not a great speller, I'll try to double check myself more often.
I've seen some forums have a spell check incorporated into them next to the "submit post" "preview post" option if the spelling is a big subject over here. Maybe I can write my posts in Microsoft word do a spell and grammar check then just cut and past on here. Then I'll be adored for my spelling, grammar and punctuations. Lol
Just being goofy no one should take that to heart.shriner75, The Challenger and Everett Thank this. -
Glad to hear you're ok. It's definitely a serious issue that people need to be aware of. Carbon Monoxide detectors have saved my life twice.
Injun and The Challenger Thank this. -
Well golly gee, real truckdrivers dont spell or write anyway , we just learn too hold on that big thing in front of us and grab that stick thingy , thats sticks thru the hole in the floor and go like heck too get that load there, we leave all the imporant stuff like spelling and writing too our dispacther,
shriner75, Gasienica, Shoestring and 4 others Thank this. -

You sure got that right Everett!
bullhaulerswife and J R W Thank this. -
Predicting the future here:
A newbie driver is gonna get into a old school truck and is not gonna know what to do when they gonna see a big long stick coming out of the middle of the floor. Then their gonna look down and see a extra third pedal and gonna have their minds totally blown like they just got into a space ship. Also what are all these extra gauges and switches for. Thinking to themselves "my last truck only had a speedometer and a tachometer"
Lmao crying.Everett Thanks this. -
Very true,
Before all this enviro crap on trucks the exhaust used to have a flex pipe before it went to the stacks, rusted out after a few years but heat tape can get you home. -
True indeed,
Owner operator I used to drive for had the stacks replaced and we went to straight stacks, he said screw the flex pipe and went to solid elbows with rubber vibration straps.
