PACCAR backed by an Eaton are the jerky ones. No amount of programming will fix that combo. However, backed by a PACCAR trans, they’re much better. Not quite Volvo refinement, but, close.
Volvo and PACCAR transmissions, both, offer manual shifting, via the right hand stalk.
I always wondered why paddle shifters aren't an option?

Every automated truck i’ve driven has had some sorr of a paddle shifter. Freightliners have pretty much always been a stalk ok the column, Volvos are always attached to the drivers seat. Pete’s & KW’s in the dash or on the stalk.
Autoshifts & ultrashifts have up & down arrows the same as ishift. -
ducnut Thanks this.

Somewhere out there in a hillbilly shop a bearded guy covered in tats is cutting a wooden canoe paddle down and grafting it to a shifter stub on a 5 speed in a rusty patina rat rod.

Freightshaker 2010 models and up a wee bit with Autoshift AND A Clutch Pedal, for starting off, and stopping. Autoshift Trans, claimed a Punched Up Motor, Top End (claimed) over 100, downhill coast up to 95 mph ONCE in Wyoming on I-80, then 35 or so up other side.
My Arm kept moving like I was shifting except when rolling faster.
At lease left leg wasn't weakened from no use.
Still had Air Ride Slider Seat, Air Ride Cab and Trailer and no whinging passenger/co-driver.
