I was thinking about getting my brokers authority as well... How long did it take you?

 

I don’t have broker license.

I’m in the carrier side, but I have my own direct shippers so I try to avoid majority of brokers as possible

 

I had a direct shipper earlier in the spring out of eastern TN and they moved a big part of their operation to FL so I lost a lot of their loads.. thats why I had to go back to brokers... I landed a good broker out of Missouri which I do well on, but I know they take a lot off the top...

Good brokers to me are the ones that can keep my fleet above average at all times, and when having a big fleet they surely will cause they love trucks at their hands all the time.

But there’s nothing like direct customers that you can depend on.

I’m not sure how long for broker authority to be active but I do know a lot of carriers wont work with you being new mostly due to the factoring companies telling them no. It’s not as easy to get in as people think without large sum of money or a lot of connections of carriers.
