I would think having almost half of the homeless population of the US living in the state, people pooping on the sidewalks, and diseases that haven’t been seen in years making a comeback from all the filth would be more pressing issues than worker classification, but that’s just me. I guess they see it as a way to get more money in the coffers.

While you've all been crapping on California for the AB5 law, it appears that New Jersey has decided to mirror AB5 with their own version of the law (S4204). There is an old saying "As California goes, so does the nation". Well, it appears to be true in this case as well.
